There are three chapters in Australia- Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. Also, recently Adelaide Representative office of ICAI was inaugurated. To apply for membership you should be an active member of the parent body. Please check your eligibility using the below online status check link by submitting your membership number. https://www.icai.org/traceamember.html A  Qualified CA from ICAI can apply to become a member of the Chapter by going to the “Join Us” page to download the form. Once the form is duly approved by the committee after your full compliance and submission, an invoice will be generated and fee payment can be made against the invoice.

Yes. We hold regular CPD sessions most likely on the third Saturday of each month at the Multipurpose Room, Docklands Community Hub, Melbourne (depending on the venue and other logistics). Members receive a scheduled event notice and you can check for upcoming events on this site.

The Chapter regularly organizes seminars and workshops throughout the year to benefit its members and migrants. These programs, particularly those focused on soft skill development, have been particularly helpful for new migrants.

 

Yes.  A paid member gets structured CPE credits for attending the technical sessions in Melbourne. These credits are visible in  https://www.cpeicai.org/ portal once recorded by the Chapter. The same CPE hours can be subject to the other accounting bodies regulations and can be put to use.

Members form an integral part of the Chapter. The Chapter continuously looked at ways to provide benefits to its members by arranging regular PDCs. In this connection following were planned for the year:

• Conduct special workshops;

• Provide a networking platform for members within the Chapter and across different professional bodies;

• Organise events like Family events and Outing, etc.;

Melbourne Chapter is committed to helping generate employment opportunities for its members in the industry and profession. Providing a networking platform for members to meet and build connections with potential employers and explore upcoming opportunities is a valuable way to help members find employment. Sharing vacancy notifications and CVs with members is also a practical way to help connect members with job opportunities. Additionally, providing a migrant toolkit for ICAI members who wish to relocate to Victoria, Australia demonstrates the chapter’s commitment to supporting the professional growth and development of its members.

Making the Migrant kit available on the chapter’s website makes it easily accessible to members who may be considering a move to Victoria. The chapter is committed to helping ICAI members find employment and advance their careers in the accounting profession.

The Melbourne Chapter is committed to providing full support to the members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). To facilitate this, one of the committee members serves as a designated point of contact (under our buddy program) for all settling down and mutual recognition agreement (MRA) related matters and inquiries.

A member can become involved with the activities of the Melbourne Chapter by

  • Being a part of the Managing Committee
  • By contributing articles for its monthly newsletters
  • By presenting at a CPD session
  • By regularly attending the CPD sessions
  • By becoming a mentor in the Buddy program
  • By posting job opportunities in their organization in the ICAI Melbourne group
  • Periodically with the parent body or with other affiliate bodies.
  • Within the members for the benefit of the activities of the Chapter.
  • Pictures during the events and share them on the Chapter’s website or professional/social media accounts to promote the activities of the Chapter.

Please ensure that any change is notified to the chapter by email to Chairman, Secretary, and Treasurer email ids and allow a reasonable time to update. In case that is not done, please reach out to any office bearer.

The Chapter continued to invest in various technological initiatives, which include:
• Regular update of the website to be in line with the ICAI guidelines and for providing updated announcements, information, presentations, and photo gallery of the various events;
• Creation of a closed Facebook group for the members of the Chapter;
• Creation of a closed LinkedIn Page for the Chapter
• Online payments of Chapter’s fees;
• WhatsApp updates on Chapters activities
