Dear Professional Colleagues,

It is my privilege and honour to serve as the Chairman for our ICAI Melbourne Chapter and as a strong and dedicated new managing committee, we will try to take our profession to newer heights.

These are unprecedented times for us all. Our best wishes to every member and their families, relatives & friends for their health & safety.

I would like to thank CA Anbu Mohan, Chairman 2019-20 and managing committee members for doing a wonderful job throughout the previous year.  Also thanks to other Chapter members of the Advisory Committee, Editorial team, Internal Auditor & Electoral Officer, and founder members for taking the great initiative in forming our Chapter.

 

I extend my heartiest greetings to all members as our distinguished and noble CA profession has recently celebrated its 72nd CA day, which was on 1st July.  The motto of our institute is Ya Aeshu Suptaeshu Jagruti (Sanskrit), which literally means “a person who is awake in those that sleep”.   Our Institute stands tall not just as an authentic symbol of the decades of priceless and invaluable experience it acquired via its consistent contribution but also as the epitome of continual dynamism and the resultant growth of the accountancy profession worldwide. Our profession is built on a number of key pillars comprising of trust, performance and competence. We, as Chartered Accountants, are known for our commitments, both to the profession and to our society. In fact, the foremost challenge is to keep abreast of rapidly evolving technological tools as well as regulatory frameworks. We promise to not just capitalize on future opportunities of success coming our way but also continue to create newer ones. Now I want to highlight our managing committee’s – vision & mission. Our motto is integrity, trustworthiness & intelligence and our plan for 2020-21 is as follows:

  • We will keep the global context in mind for our overall activities but focus more on the Australian perspectives and relevance of CPD topics.
  • We continue providing CPD online webinar sessions due to COVID19 restrictions. We would return to some in person CPD sessions, hold a conference and a Family event subject to easing of restrictions. Provide quality International speakers and Australian leaders for our sessions.

  • Tax planning for Individual, company & trust, etc
  • Business Restructuring
  • Forex Trading
  • Forensic Accounting/ investigations & ASIC regulatory
  • Governance, Compliance, strategy & transformation
  • AUStrac
  • Privacy Awareness
  • Fraud Awareness
  • Money Laundering
  • Advance Technology tools in preparing Business models & Financial Analysis
  • International trade between India & Australia
  • Improve the newsletters contents and qualitative subject matters, and more content on chapter website & other social media channels.
  • Interaction & cooperation with ICAI & other overseas chapters
  • Increase the profile of ICAI Melbourne Chapter & promoting the ICAI Brand amongst the wider community
  • Maintaining and building relationships with local professional bodies CPA Australia and CA ANZ etc
  • Further the Buddy Program (mentoring) to help chapter members.
  • Increase membership strength by creating value for members
